Kiran Rao stopped Aamir Khan from retiring during pandemic: ‘You’re leaving everything’ | Hindi Movie News

Aamir Khan recently opened up about a life-altering decision he nearly made during the COVID-19 pandemic, retiring from films.
The revelation came while promoting his co-produced film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ in the United States, which has been selected as India’s official entry in the foreign language category at the upcoming Academy Awards.
Aamir opened up to Reuters about how the pandemic prompted him to reflect on his personal life.He admitted feeling guilty for not giving enough time to his relationships, which led to an emotional breakdown. This guilt even made him consider leaving the film industry for good.
But it was Kiran Rao, his former wife and close associate, who made him think otherwise. Aamir credited Kiran for helping him regain perspective by reminding him of what she said: “If you’re leaving films, you’re leaving us, you’re leaving everything.” A little-candid response from her shook the actor out of himself, but in the end, it made him change his mind. “I’m glad I changed my mind and I’m back,” Aamir said.
‘Laapataa Ladies’, directed by Kiran Rao, has the quirky tale of two newlywed brides who get exchanged during a train journey to their husbands’ homes, portrayed by actors Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, and Chhaya Kadam. It premiered at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival in 2023 and hit theaters on March 1, 2024.
