When Aamir Khan REACTED to alleged feud with Salman Khan about similar themes of Dangal and Sultan: ‘He actually helped us’ |
Aamir Khan once cleared the air as rumours surfaced that he was at loggerheads with Salman Khan during the days when their respective films, ‘Dangal’ and ‘Sultan’, shared some common themes of wrestling.
The speculation relating to a rivalry between these two stars was fuelled more so by the fact that the two movies revolve around wrestling, but Aamir Khan denied any animosity from him and clarified that Salman had instead played a key role to obtain the title of ‘Dangal’.
With the going of ‘Dangal’ promotions, Aamir shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story. He said that though the title ‘Dangal’ was initially part of the script, it was owned by actor Puneet Issar. Knowing Salman’s close relationship with Puneet, Aamir sought his help. Without much ado, Salman called Puneet and arranged a meeting between the two. Despite rumors that the two films were not on good terms, Aamir said Salman was the one who helped him get the title.
Aamir remembered how Salman had called Puneet, claiming he required the title for ‘Danga’ even though ‘Sultan’ which was Salman’s movie also—was on the same theme. He further cleared up that there was no issue between them and Salman had only been supportive in this process. After Salman called, Puneet told Aamir that he wasn’t using the title and asked him to take it and allow his team to take it over. And that’s how Dangal acquired the title that became a byword.
On the work front, Salman is now filming the action thriller ‘Sikandar’. It is due for Eid 2025 release and promises to be quite the thrill ride, given by AR Murugadoss and Sajid Nadiadwala. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan was also seen in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ along with Kareena Kapoor, who would then be getting ready to roll out ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ featuring Darsheel Safary and Genelia Deshmukh.
It is scheduled to release on 25 Dec 2024.
