'Jigra' box office collection day 7: The Alia Bhatt starrer sees a further drop in numbers as it completes its one week run, inches closer to Rs 25 crore | Hindi Movie News

Jigra‘ starring Alia Bhatt, Vedang Raina was considered a niche, multiplex movie ever since it released, hence there were no expectations from it to bring in those big numbers. It was meant to see footfalls and numbers from the big cities and multiplexes and not from two-tier, three tier areas.
The film directed by Vasan Bala had a weekend collection of about Rs 16 crore over its first three days which was also considered a decent number.
From Monday onwards, it started making in the range of Rs 1.5 crore each day. On Thursday which was day 7, ‘Jigra’ minted Rs 1.25 crore. The total of the film now stands at Rs 22.45 crore, according to Sacnilk. The film’s lifetime collection is expected to be around Rs 40 crore.
This is perhaps, Alia Bhatt’s lowest collecting movie in her career but then, the subject was niche and the film got its share of criticism. It could have gotten better numbers if there was good word of mouth from all over. But the criticism and some mixed reviews which it got, along with Divya Khosla‘s comment about the theatres being empty, slamming the production house for showing more numbers, may have affected the movie.
But one doesn’t lose hope. ‘Jigra’ has also got a lot of positive reviews and it may see a growth over the second weekend with no new releases. There are films like ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla‘ and ‘Singham’ which are releasing again in theatres today, on October 18.
Meanwhile, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video‘ has performed better than ‘Jigra’ and made around Rs 26 crore so far in its 7-day run at the box office.
