The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the Engineering Service Examination (ESE) 2025 prelims and mains examinations. The commission has also reopened the UPSC ESE 2025 application window.

Candidates can register themselves by November 22 on the official website for UPSC ESE at upsc.gov.in. The commission will also reopen the application revision window once the UPSC ESE 2025 registration process comes to an end.

This year, the government decided to recruit candidates for the Railways through UPSC ESE; hence, the exam has been postponed to allow for preparation.

The UPSC notification read, “The government has decided that the recruitment to the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) will be made both through the Civil Services Examinations (for Traffic, Accounts and Personnel Sub-cadres) and ESE (for Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Signal & Telecommunication and Stores Sub-cadres).”

According to the official notification, the UPSC has decided to conduct the ESE (Preliminary) on June 8, 2025, and the ESE (Main) Exam on August 10, 2025. “To give sufficient time to the aspirants of ESE 2025 to prepare for the examination, the commission has also decided to postpone the ESE (Preliminary) and ESE (Main) Exam, 2025. The ESE (Preliminary) 2025 and ESE (Main) 2025 will now be held on 8th June 2025 and 10th August 2025 respectively,” it added.

Earlier, the UPSC ESE prelims exam was scheduled to be conducted on February 2, while the ESE mains exam was scheduled for June 22, 2025. The application window will close on November 22, 2024. Additionally, the correction window will again reopen on November 23 and close on November 29, 2024.

Candidates who have already applied can make corrections to their OTR profile from October 18 to November 22. The recruitment drive aims to fill 232 posts across various government departments.
