Mahayuti: Mahayuti’s Cross-Nominations Cause Internal Strife, Says Fadnavis |
Mumbai: Cross-nominations were filed across the Mahayuti, and in some places, there was rebellion within the party, admitted Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Fadnavis said Mahayuti leaders CM Eknath Shinde, Dy CM Ajit Pawar, and he held a meeting to discuss the rebel candidates. “In the meeting of the leaders from three parties, we worked out a formula to settle the issue of cross-nomination by two allies in a few constituencies. We are confident we will be able to persuade the rebels to withdraw their nominations,” he said.
Regarding rebel candidate Gopal Shetty of Borivli, he said they were speaking to him to withdraw his nomination as an independent. “He is a true party worker, and I am sure he will be convinced,” he said.
Regarding Raj Thackeray‘s son Amit Thackeray’s candidacy in Mahim, Fadnavis expressed optimism about reaching a consensus within the ruling alliance. “Our endeavour would be to ensure Amit Thackeray in Mahim, and the talks within the alliance are underway. We are sure that an amicable decision will be taken,” he stated.
In Nagpur, Fadnavis said Raj Thackeray is a friend, and in the last elections, he had supported unconditionally. “In this election, his stand is different. He has put up candidates against Mahayuti too. Therefore, at present, there is no scope for him to come into the Mahayuti. On some seats, strategically, with the concurrence of the CM, we can think of supporting each other, such as Sewri,” he said.
Shinde Sena candidate from Mahim Sada Sarvankar had in a post on X on Wednesday urged MNS chief Raj Thackeray to withdraw his son Amit from the contest in Mahim.
