Amitabh Bachchan‘s time filming ‘Satte Pe Satta‘ was marked by many memorable moments, particularly his late-night outings that often left his wife, Jaya Bachchan, searching for him. Sachin Pilgaonkar, who played one of Amitabh’s brothers in the film, recently shared insights into this period during an interview. He recounted how Jaya and their children, Shweta and Abhishek, were present in Kashmir while the movie was being shot.
After long days on set, Amitabh would frequently join Sachin and other cast members for late-night parties that stretched into the early hours. In an interview with Radio Nasha Sachin revealed, “Jaya ji and their kids had accompanied him, were staying with him at his hotel. Every day, after pack up, Amit ji would sit in his car and come to Broadway to party with us.” This routine became a source of concern for Jaya, who would be left wondering about her husband’s whereabouts.
“He wouldn’t go to the Oberoi Palace. Jaya ji would be searching for him; there were no mobile phones at that time,” Sachin added. Amitabh would often ask his friends to reassure Jaya by saying, “Call Jaya ji and tell her that I am here.”
The camaraderie among the cast extended beyond parties; they often enjoyed picnics together. “We used to have a lot of fun. It felt like we were on a picnic. We were all such waahiyad log; only one sharif person on set was Amitabh Bachchan,” Sachin remarked. This bond helped Amitabh forge close relationships with his co-stars during the production.
