Bhavana Pandey: Ananya and I talk about maintaining privacy in relationships, ensuring that her happiness and well-being come first – Exclusive | Hindi Movie News
Bhavana Pandey, a successful fashion entrepreneur, mother to actress Ananya Panday, and wife of actor Chunky Pandey, found herself stepping into the spotlight in a new way with the reality series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. The transition from running a fashion brand to sharing her life on a reality show might seem unconventional, but Bhavana embraced the challenge, offering a glimpse into her personal world.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Bhavana candidly talked about her experiences on the show, balancing fame, family, and business, and the lessons she has learned along the way.
How did your transition from being a fashion entrepreneur to becoming a star on Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives unfold?
The transition was quite unexpected for me. I’ve always been focused on creating a fashion brand, but when the opportunity for Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives came up, it seemed like a fun project. Initially, I wasn’t sure how much of my life I wanted to share, but it turned out to be an exciting journey, allowing me to explore a new side of myself. The show has given me a platform to connect with a larger audience while still remaining true to my entrepreneurial roots.
How do you feel Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives has impacted your public image? Did you anticipate such a strong reaction from the audience?
I knew reality TV would bring more visibility, but I didn’t expect the show to resonate so strongly with people. The audience reaction has been overwhelming in a positive way. I think viewers appreciate the realness and camaraderie between all of us. Being on the show has opened up many conversations, and I’ve embraced this new level of public attention.
With reality shows blurring the line between personal and professional, how do you manage to stay authentic while under the public eye?
It’s definitely a balancing act, but I believe in being myself no matter what. Authenticity is important to me, both personally and professionally. Of course, we all have moments when we’re more vulnerable, but I think that’s what makes the show relatable. I stay grounded by keeping my family close and remembering that while the cameras capture certain moments, I’m the same person off-screen as I am on it.
Your relationship with Chunky Panday has been much talked about. How do you two maintain such a strong bond after all these years in the spotlight?
Chunky and I have been through a lot together, and we’ve always supported each other’s journeys. Our relationship is built on mutual respect, trust, and a lot of humour. I think laughter has been the key to keeping things light and strong over the years. We understand the pressures of the public eye, but at the end of the day, we’re just a couple who genuinely enjoy each other’s company.
As a mother to Ananya Panday, who is now a successful actress, what has been the most fulfilling and challenging part of watching her career unfold in the public eye?
Watching Ananya grow into her own has been one of the most fulfilling experiences as a mother. I’m incredibly proud of the person she’s become. The most challenging part is definitely seeing her navigate public scrutiny at such a young age. But Ananya is strong and has a solid support system, so it’s been rewarding to watch her handle both the highs and the challenges with grace.
How do you handle the criticism and scrutiny that often comes with being a celebrity mom? Have you had conversations with Ananya about dealing with public pressure?
Criticism is part of the territory, but I try not to let it get to me. As a family, we always have open discussions about handling public pressure, and I’ve spoken to Ananya about the importance of staying grounded and focusing on what matters. At the end of the day, it’s about staying true to yourself and not letting outside opinions define you.
How do you handle the news about Ananya’s relationship rumours, and do you discuss with her how to navigate romantic relationships?
As a mother, I’m always there for Ananya, no matter what. We have an open and honest relationship, and I trust her judgment when it comes to personal matters. Navigating relationships in the public eye is tricky, but we talk about maintaining privacy and ensuring that her happiness and well-being come first.

What values do you and Chunky prioritize when it comes to raising your children in such a public setting?
Chunky and I have always emphasized the importance of kindness, humility, and hard work. No matter the fame or spotlight, we want our children to remain humble and treat everyone with respect. We’ve tried to instil a strong sense of self and the ability to stay grounded despite external pressures.
Nepotism is a recurring debate in Bollywood. As Ananya’s mother, how do you respond to the ongoing discussion?
Nepotism is a topic that comes up often, and I understand the conversation around it. At the same time, I’ve seen Ananya work incredibly hard for everything she’s achieved. Talent and dedication are crucial, and while having a certain background might open doors, it’s ultimately up to the individual to prove themselves. Ananya has done just that through her commitment and passion for her craft.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned about yourself since stepping into the limelight through the show?
I’ve learned to be more open and comfortable with vulnerability. Being on the show has made me realise the strength in showing who you are, flaws and all. It’s taught me to embrace the different facets of my life and to be proud of both my personal and professional journeys.
What advice would you give to women who are balancing careers, family, and the pressure to look or act a certain way in society?
I would advise staying true to yourself and not letting society dictate your choices. It’s important to find a balance between career, family, and self-care. Don’t be afraid to prioritize your well-being, and remember that it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. There’s no one way to “have it all,” but with support and self-belief, you can create a life that feels right for you.
