NEW DELHI: In a heartfelt farewell, Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar announced his departure from Sunrisers Hyderabad after spending over a decade with the franchise.
The 34-year-old took to X to express his gratitude to the SRH management, teammates, and fans for their unwavering support throughout his journey.
“After 11 incredible years with SRH, I say goodbye to this team. I have so many unforgettable and cherishable memories. One thing unmissable is the love of the fans, which has been splendid! Your support has been constant. I will carry this love and support with me forever,” Bhuvneshwar posted, accompanied by a compilation video showcasing his memorable moments with the team.
Bhuvneshwar, who joined SRH in 2014, leaves as the franchise’s all-time leading wicket-taker. Overall, the pacer has taken 181 wickets in 176 IPL matches, making him fourth highest wicket-taker in league’s history.
Known for his ability to swing the ball and deliver in pressure situations, he was instrumental in SRH’s title-winning campaign in 2016 and earned back-to-back Purple Caps in 2016 and 2017, becoming the first bowler in IPL history to achieve the feat.
During the IPL 2025 auction, Bhuvneshwar emerged as one of the top picks among capped bowlers, securing a Rs 10.75 crore deal with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This move marks his return to RCB, where he began his IPL journey in 2009.
Bhuvneshwar’s departure from SRH signifies the end of an era for the Hyderabad-based franchise, where he grew into one of the IPL’s most consistent performers.
