CBFC clears ‘The Sabarmati Report’ on Godhra incident with UA rating; violence cut by 40 percent, foul language removed |
The Sabarmati Report, based on the Godhra incident with media as the backdrop, has received a UA certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The filmmakers made around 11 modifications, reducing violent visuals by about 40 percent and removing foul language. The driver’s line, “Sab milta hai, brand bataiye,” was replaced, and an outdated health spot featuring Akshay Kumar was updated.
The film highlights the media’s role in reporting on the Godhra case, with Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra playing journalists.
Meanwhile, some social media users had recently noticed that Vikrant’s views toward the BJP seemed to be softening, sparking talk that this shift might be tied to his upcoming film, The Sabarmati Report.
Responding to these discussions, Vikrant explained that his views have changed due to personal experiences over the years, rather than because of any professional reasons.
In a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Vikrant reflected on his personal growth, expressing that he has changed significantly over the past decade and hopes to keep evolving. He acknowledged that change is inevitable, but despite shifting perspectives, he remains dedicated to his secular beliefs.
The 12th Fail star shared that his evolving perspective stems from traveling across India and meeting people from diverse backgrounds. He highlighted that interacting with thousands, especially in rural areas like those in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, helped him see issues more clearly. His firsthand experiences have reshaped some views he once saw as problematic, adding depth to his understanding through direct exposure to varied realities.
Vikrant shared that he now aims to approach issues from a balanced perspective, steering clear of outside influences and maintaining a calmer, more objective viewpoint.
