Deepika Padukone opens up on facing negativity and criticism for her diction, accent in Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Om Shanti Om': It pushed me to work hard | Hindi Movie News

Deepika Padukone made her debut with ‘Om Shanti Om’ in 2007 alongside Shah Rukh Khan. The actress has always seen an upwards since then and is one of the most loved actors in the industry today with a huge fan following. However, Deepika has always been honest about expressing her feelings, as she’s also spoken about mental health awareness in the past and continues her efforts towards it.The actress recently got into a conversation with Arianna Huffington about mental health, where she opened up on dealing with negativity.
The actress said that one should sometimes take criticism or negativity also in a positive way. “When my debut movie Om Shanti Om released, there were quite a few bad reviews, but I specifically remember this one bad review which pushed me to work on myself. It spoke about my accent, my diction, my talent and capabilities. Negativity is sometimes a good thing, it’s what you make of it. The larger picture is what do you do with that criticism, how do you look at it positively,” she said.
Deepika also opens up on feeling burnt out and how as opposed to popular belief, taking a break or getting some rest is also quite important. In the same chat, Deepika opened up on the notion of hard working and professional. She said, “For someone who makes time for themselves, or takes a weekend off, people think that person is not driven, which I find so bizarre. If someone needs downtime or time for themselves, they think this person is not motivated enough so let’s look for someone who is ready to burn the midnight oil, because that person is hardworking, so committed. For me, it comes from being an athlete, that you need your rest, you need your recovery to perform better.”
At the moment, Deepika is busy with her new ‘mommy duties’, as she’s just delivered a baby girl. On work front, she will be seen next in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’ set to release on Diwali.
