Did you know Salman Khan was not the first choice for ‘Karan Arjun’? | Hindi Movie News

Karan Arjun’ stands high as one of the most remarkable films ever made in Bollywood and the movie also marked an unmatchable chemistry between the stars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Everything being said, did you know that Salman Khan was not the first choice of the director Rakesh Roshan to play one of the leads in the movie?

Yes, you heard it right, Rakesh Roshan had initial plans for actors Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan to play the leads Karan Singh and Arjun Singh in the superhit 1995 action drama movie.

This fact was revealed by Rakesh Roshan’s daughter Sunaina Roshan via her book titled ‘To Dad With Love’. In the biography book, Sunaina mentioned that initially, Rakesh Roshan planned to rope in Ajay Devgn along with SRK in the movie. But the conflict happened when both the actors wanted to play the characters that were opposite to their images – SRK wanted to do action and Ajay Devgn wanted to do romance!
Her words in the book read, “Initially, he (Rakesh Roshan) had signed Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan but both actors wanted to switch roles and go against their respective images- SRK wanted to do all the action, Ajay wanted to romance! Dad then decided on Salman Khan and Aamir.”
She also revealed that Rakesh Roshan also tried to rope in Aamir Khan, unfortunately, the ‘3 Idiot’s actor had a busy schedule for over six months. She wrote, “SRK returned to the film and agreed to do the romantic role. So Dad went to Aamir and told him that he had got Salman’s dates and would like to start shooting without any further delay. Aamir accepted the explanation and opted out of the film.”
Finally, the cast was set! With Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, ‘Karan Arjun’ is surely one of the best action drama movies in Bollywood packed with magnificent performances.
