‘Jigra’ advance box office day 1: The Alia Bhatt starrer has sold around 18,000 tickets, expected to open at Rs 4.5-5 crore on Friday | Hindi Movie News
Alia Bhatt is back in cinemas after ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ with ‘Jigra‘. Though, this is the film which is completely backing on Alia’s shoulders with a very niche subject as well. It takes us back to the time when Alia came in with ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and made such a great business. Though, for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was also a huge selling point.Will ‘Jigra’ prove to be on the same lines? Time will tell. At the moment, the advance ticket sales of the movie is average and clearly, that was expected out of a movie like this, which is more of a multiplex movie.’Jigra’ sees Vedang Raina alongside Alia and is directed by Vasan Bala.
Thus, it will largely depend on positive word of mouth which may lead to more of current booking and jump in the business in the next few days. ‘Jigra’ has sold around 18,000 tickets at the top three national chains. But this number was up to Thursday evening and now it may have increased. The movie has released in around 2200 to 2500 screens and is expected to clock in around Rs 4.5 crore to 5 crore on its opening day.
‘Jigra’ is clashing with Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri starrer ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video‘ which is also expected to do a similar business on Day 1. But the early reviews of the audience on the internet and the reviews overall, will largely decide which film beats the other one.
As of now, both these movies are also facing competittion from Jr NTR’s ‘Devara’ and Rajinikanth-Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Vettaiyan’ which will dominate in the south.
