‘Jigra’ box office collection day 16: The Alia Bhatt starrer finally crosses Rs 30 crore mark on third Saturday | Hindi Movie News
‘Jigra‘ starring Alia Bhatt, Vedang Raina got mixed reviews from the audience and that’s perhaps why the film couldn’t hold strong post its good opening day number. The trailer had garnered some buzz and people were looking forward to seeing the film. Positive word of mouth and reviews would have just led the movie to generate some great numbers, just like ‘12th Fail‘ or ‘Laapataa Ladies’. However, it got mixed reviews, some flak which led to people not flocking to the cinemas to see the film. The USP of the movie, of course, was Alia.
The movie entered its third week and it did see some growth on Saturday which was a positive sign. All through it’s week 2 from Monday onwards, the film had seen a number everyday which was less than Rs 1 crore. It saw a drop on each day. On Friday it made Rs 40 lakh. On Saturday though, it did see a growth and made Rs 70 lakh. With this, it has finally crossed Rs 30 crore. The total collection so far is Rs 30.40 crore.
‘Jigra’ did decent in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, but generated very less business from UP, Delhi, Gujarat and other centres. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video‘ has an edge over it. The total collection of this film so far is Rs 39 crore. ‘Jigra’ may generate about Rs 1 crore or max 2 crore more in the coming week and may end up with a lifetime business of Rs 32-34 crore.
