Jigra box office collection day 5: Alia Bhatt's film struggles to cross Rs 20 crore mark, shows no recovery | Hindi Movie News

Alia Bhatt’s much-anticipated solo release Jigra has fallen short of fan expectations, with the film struggling to make a significant impact at the box office. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Jigra collected Rs 1.60 crore on its fifth day, bringing its total earnings to Rs 19.85 crore in five days. The film has shown no signs of recovery during weekdays and has yet to cross the Rs 20 crore mark.
Jigra registered the lowest opening for an Alia Bhatt-starrer in a decade, earning Rs 4.55 crore on its first day. It saw a slight increase on its second day with Rs 6.55 crore, but day three experienced a dip, bringing in Rs 5.5 crore. The film’s collections further plummeted on Monday with Rs 1.65 crore, and day five earnings have done little to improve the outlook.

Jigra ‘Jigs Up’ Box Office Collection? Alia Bhatt Lands In Another Controversy

The film has also been embroiled in controversies since its release. Actor-filmmaker Divya Khosla Kumar recently alleged that Jigra’s plot was similar to her film Savi and accused Alia of manipulating box office figures. Additionally, Manipuri actor Bujou Thaangjam accused the casting team of unprofessionalism, stating that he was initially contacted to shoot in December but never received a follow-up call.

Jigra, an escape thriller co-produced by Alia Bhatt and her sister Shaheen Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, also stars Vedang Raina and Manoj Pahwa. In the film, Alia plays Satya Anand, a woman determined to rescue her brother Ankur Anand from a foreign prison where he is tortured and sentenced to death.
