Leaked US documents reveal Israel’s plans for strike on Iran

The United States government has launched an investigation into the unauthorized release of classified documents detailing Israel’s military preparations for a potential strike on Iran.
A US official confirmed the authenticity of the documents to Associated Press, which originated from the US Geospatial Intelligence Agency (GEOINT) and the National Security Agency (NSA).These documents outline Israel’s continued movement of military assets in response to Iran’s recent ballistic missile attack on October 1.
The sensitive documents, labeled “Top Secret,” were reportedly accessible to the “Five Eyes” intelligence alliance, which includes the US, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. However, they were leaked online through the messaging platform Telegram.
US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, indicated they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Investigation into the leak

The US is now investigating how the documents were leaked, whether through an intentional act by someone within the intelligence community or potentially via hacking. Officials are also assessing whether any other sensitive information may have been compromised.
As part of the investigation, authorities are working to trace access to the documents before they surfaced online.
The leaked documents come at a critical time, as the US urges Israel to capitalize on the elimination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and to consider a ceasefire in Gaza. Simultaneously, Washington has cautioned Israel against escalating military operations in Lebanon, fearing a broader regional conflict.

What information was leaked?

According to CNN, the documents, dated October 15 and 16, provide detailed insights into Israel’s military activities and preparations for a potential strike against Iran. One of the reports, attributed to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, highlights Israel’s movement of munitions, reflecting ongoing preparations for a retaliatory strike on Iran.
The documents also reveal the US government’s deep concerns about Israel’s military intentions, as well as the potential for further escalation.
One document is titled “Israel: Air Force Continues Preparations for Strike on Iran” and describes military exercises rehearsing elements of the planned operation. A second document discusses Israel’s repositioning of its missile arsenal in anticipation of retaliatory strikes from Iran.
