MVA discussed 216 seats, doors open for Samajwadi Party, says Vijay Wadettiwar ahead of Maharashtra polls | Mumbai News

NEW DELHI: Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, announced on Thursday that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has held discussions for 216 seats for the upcoming assembly elections.
He said that talks for the remaining seats will be held in a meeting later today.

The MVA is convening the meeting at Sofitel Hotel in BKC, Mumbai, as the state prepares for assembly polls scheduled for November 20.
Speaking to the media, Wadettiwar said, “We have discussed 216 seats within the MVA. The remaining 66 seats will be decided today. It’s expected that the final seat-sharing arrangement will be announced by this evening or tomorrow in a press conference.”
Addressing concerns raised by Samajwadi Party‘s Maharashtra unit chief Abu Azmi, who expressed dissatisfaction over seat-sharing, Wadettiwar assured that the alliance is still open to SP.
“No doors are closed for the Samajwadi Party. We’ve had our first discussion, and after further talks today, issues will be resolved within two days,” he said.
He also mentioned that the MVA would discuss seat allocation for the Samajwadi Party in today’s meeting. “Just like the agreement between Congress and SP in Uttar Pradesh, a similar arrangement will be made in Maharashtra,” Wadettiwar added.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had said that he will be heading to Maharashtra to discuss seat-sharing plans.
While speaking to reporters, Yadav said, “I am going to Maharashtra. Our aim is to contest alongside the INDIA alliance. We’ve requested seats and, having had two MLAs, we hope to secure more this time. A decision on seat-sharing in Uttar Pradesh will also be made soon.”
