Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan are celebrated for their love and passion for each other ever since they tied the knot in 2022. In her recent OTT documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale’, she opened up about her previous relationships and the lessons she learned. The actress revealed that one of her ex-boyfriends even asked her to quit acting for the sake of their relationship.
“My first relationship was purely based on trust — the trust that the other person is in love with you,” she shared. Nayanthara made headlines for her relationship with actor Silambarasan TR during the making of his directorial debut Vallavan. However, after some of their private pictures were leaked online, the couple ended their relationship.

Nagarjuna, who was working with her on Boss at the time, spoke about the impact of the breakup. “It was a turbulent time in her life. In fact, we would dread the moment her phone rang because it would immediately upset her. She became a different person,” he shared in the documentary.
Later, Nayanthara collaborated with Prabhu Deva on Villu, and their dating life made headlines. She shared, “It was the man who told me to quit cinema.” Prabhu Deva’s unresolved marital issues fueled rumors about their relationship in the industry. His ex-wife, Latha, refused to grant him a divorce, forcing Nayanthara to end her relationship with him and took a break from her career. “It wasn’t like I had an option. I was told to leave cinema, and I agreed.” she clarified.
“Just because I never openly addressed my past, people started writing their own stories. They began assuming the worst. How come none of the boys were ever asked anything?” Nayanthara reflected on the online scrutiny she faced.
After a two-year hiatus, she received an offer from Nagarjuna Akkineni, and the actress expressed her gratitude towards him for reigniting her passion for acting.
In 2015, Nayanthara worked with director Vignesh Shivan on ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan‘, where their love blossomed. The film, produced by Dhanush, marked the beginning of their journey together. After their marriage in 2022, the couple welcomed twin boys, Uyir and Ulag, through surrogacy.
