PCS exam row: Students call off stir after UPPSC revises schedule
The students had been protesting since November 11 outside the UPPSC headquarters in Prayagraj. They were demanding that the PCS Preliminary Examination be held on a single day rather than on various dates. Later, the UPPSC rolled back its decision and revised the exam schedule, accordingly.
“The agitation has ended and the protest site has been cleared. The last group of 10-15 protesters left in the evening,” ACP (Civil Lines) Shyamjeet Pramila Singh was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
The UPPSC announced that the PCS Preliminary Examination for 2024 will now be held on December 22 in two sessions. The first session will take place from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, while the second session will be from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Earlier, the commission announced it would hold the above-mentioned exam on two separate days—December 7 and December 8. The Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) preliminary examinations were scheduled to take place on December 7 and December 8.
“The examination will now be conducted in a single day rather than over two days. The revised exam will take place on December 22 in two shifts, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm,” according to a statement issued by UPPSC Deputy Secretary Onkar Nath Singh.
However, in response to the demand related to conducting the RO and ARO examinations, the commission has decided to form a panel to look into the matter.
