PM Internship Portal now live for registration of candidates: Here are key features, how to apply and more


Prime Minister Internship Scheme Portal went live for candidates to register at 5pm on October 12, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs said. Candidates can register themselves on the portal through https://pminternship.mca.gov.in.

The ministry explained that PM Internship Scheme is a transformative initiative by PM Narendra Modi led government to ensure the skilling of the youth, which will enhance their employability.

Here is a look at key features of the scheme

-It will provide an opportunity to do an internship in the Top 500 companies in India for 12 months and learn from the best.

-There will be an allowance of ₹5000/- per month and ₹6000/- as a one-time grant.

-PM Internship Portal will go live for the registration of candidates from 5.00 PM today.

-Candidates can register themselves on the portal through: https://pminternship.mca.gov.in

-The portal ensures efficient access to internships across sectors with Aadhaar-based registration and tools like bio-data generation.

-In the past week, the portal has added more than 90,000 opportunities across 24 sectors including Oil, Gas & Energy sector, Travel & Hospitality, Automotives, Banking and Financial Services, etc.

Who all are eligible?

-The candidate should be aged between 21-24 years.

-The candidate should not enrolled in full time education

-No family member (self/spouse/parents) of the candidate should be earning more than 8 lakh per annum

-No family member of the candidate should have a government job

Which companies have posted internship opportunities for the youth on the new portal?

-According to sources cited by PTI, more than 90,800 internship opportunities have been offered by 193 companies so far on the portal for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme

-Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motor, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., and Muthoot Finance are among the 193 companies that have offered the opportunities, they said.

-The portal was opened on October 3 for companies to post the opportunities.

-Under the scheme’s pilot project, which is estimated to cost around ₹800 crore, internships will start on December 2. It is expected to cover 1.25 lakh candidates in the current financial year ending March 2025.
