The iconic film ‘Karan Arjun‘, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, is all set for a theatrical re-release on November 22. It is widely known that Hrithik Roshan worked as an assistant director on this film. Recently, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik’s father, opened up about his son’s bond with Shah Rukh and Salman during the making of the movie. He shared that Salman helped Hrithik with physique training on the film’s sets.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Rakesh Roshan revealed that Hrithik, Shah Rukh, and Salman developed a strong bond while working on ‘Karan Arjun’. Rakesh mentioned that Hrithik had collaborated with Shah Rukh as an assistant director on several films, including ‘King Uncle’, ‘Karan Arjun’, and ‘Koyla’. “Salman used to train Hrithik to build his physique,” he shared, adding that Salman supported Hrithik during that phase. “They were very close friends, and there was a great rapport between them,” he concluded.

The director of ‘Karan Arjun’ also highlighted Hrithik’s significant contributions behind the scenes. He described Hrithik as an “intelligent assistant” who actively participated in the filmmaking process by providing valuable inputs on scenes, screenplay, and shot compositions. Rakesh referred to Hrithik as his “right-hand man” during the making of the movie, praising his involvement and insights.
Rakesh Roshan reflected on Hrithik’s journey, saying, “Gradually, as he started growing, by the time we reached ‘Koyla’ and when he turned 23-24, I began thinking of making a film with him.”
Hrithik also shared fond memories of ‘Karan Arjun’ on Instagram. He wrote about a memorable brainstorming session in 1992, recalling his father’s creative process. “That afternoon in 1992, while brainstorming the screenplay for ‘Karan Arjun’, after a long silence, dad suddenly exclaimed, ‘Ek idea aaya!’ He described the beats of the interval fight sequence with escalating emotions and shouted, ‘Bhaaaaaag अर्जुन!!!! Bhaaaaaag अर्जुन!!!!’ The room erupted in applause like we were in a theater. As a 17-year-old, I experienced my first jolt of audience euphoria! From that day, I was addicted to cinema and knew in my bones that this movie was going to be a BLOCKBUSTER!”
