Sai Pallavi ensured equal screen presence before signing ‘Amaran’ role |
Sai Pallavi is set to star in the upcoming ‘Amaran‘, and she has been actively promoting the film. In a recent interview, the actress shared her initial concerns about taking on a male-centric project and how she ensured she would receive equal screen time.
During an interview with Behindwoods before agreeing to her role in ‘Amaran’, a biopic, Sai Pallavi expressed her concerns about being sidelined in a story that primarily focuses on male characters. She mentions a common issue in biopics where filmmakers often cut down on the female lead’s scenes, citing length constraints. To address this, she made it clear to director Rajkumar that she wanted written assurance that her role would not be diminished. He agreed, promising that her character, Indhu Rebecca Varghese who is the widow of Major Mukund Varadarajan would be as significant as the male lead’s role.
In the same interview, Sai Pallavi also discussed her selective approach to choosing roles, believing that it sometimes puts her at a disadvantage in an industry that often favours more commercial choices. She noted that her preference for simple attire and strong work ethic may not align with mainstream expectations but she values staying true to herself over compromising her principles for broader acceptance.Besides, Sai Pallavi also feels that performing complex roles keeps the actors learning and passionate about their work. She feels that ordinary roles make the artist tired of his profession. Challenging roles keep the creative spark going.
The upcoming film ‘Amaran’, which stars Siva karthikeyan alongside Sai Pallavi, is set to hit theatres on October 31, 2024. As mentioned, the story is based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, an army officer who was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his bravery during a counterterrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The film will be released in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.
