Salman Khan extortion and death threat: Manhunt launched to nab accused from Jharkhand who demanded Rs 5 crore |
The Worli police have reportedly initiated a manhunt to apprehend a suspect, who allegedly sent a death threat and extortion demand to actor Salman Khan on Friday.
According to the latest reports, the individual, who sent the threat via a WhatsApp message to the Mumbai traffic police, is believed to be a resident of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. MidDay reports that police noted that the said person has been changing his location since the message was sent. The accused reportedly had travelled from Mumbai to Delhi and West Bengal in the past few days.
In the messages, the accused demanded Rs 5 crore, and warned that Khan would meet a fate “worse than Baba Siddique‘s,” if the amount was not paid. The sender warned, “Don’t take this lightly, if Salman Khan wants to stay alive and end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, he will have to pay Rs 5 crore. If the money is not given, Salman Khan’s fate will be worse than Baba Siddique’s.”
According to the report, the suspect was traced to Mumbai on October 9, with his mobile signal linked to a public sector bank at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). On October 12, the same day Siddique was shot dead. Authorities are now actively searching for the accused, who remains elusive.
The threat and extortion messages have raised serious concerns about Salman’s safety, particularly after the shooting of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique, who was gunned down outside his office in Nirmal Nagar on October 12. The police have heightened security measures outside Salman’s Bandra and Panvel houses and have also increased the security cover at his workplaces.
The investigation into both the extortion threat against Salman Khan and Siddique’s murder continues, with police linking the two cases to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
On the work front, Salman is currently busy shooting for ‘Bigg Boss 18′ and is also shooting for his next Bollywood film ‘Sikander‘ that is slated to release on Eid 2025.
