In a recent clip going viral on the internet, Shatrughan and Poonam revealed how Poonam’s mother initially hated Shatrughan and refused to let her daughter marry him.
Archana Puran Singh was heard asking in the video whether it was Poonam or Shatrughan who proposed first. Shatrughan responded that Poonam made him propose to her. Poonam further shared that his elder brother had met her mother at their home to discuss the matter, but her mother did not agree to the alliance. She strongly opposed the marriage because she did not want her daughter to marry someone from the film industry.

Shatrughan Sinha recalled, “She said to my brother, ‘Tumne dekha hai apne bhai ko? Yeh Bihari, gali ka gunda, aur humaari beti doodh ki dhuli hui, itni sundar, gori, aur Miss India (He is a Bihari, a roadside goon, and our daughter is fair, beautiful, and a crowned Miss India).’” Her mother even remarked that if Poonam and Shatrughan stood together for a color photograph, it would look like a black-and-white picture.

The Sinha family’s appearance on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ has finally put to rest the rumors of a feud following Sonakshi and Zaheer’s inter-caste marriage earlier this year. Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married on June 23 this year in a civil ceremony. The couple had been dating for seven years before tying the knot.
