Standard Chartered Bank opens 1st international centre in Mumbai for HNI clients
MUMBAI: Standard Chartered Bank has opened its first international banking centre in Mumbai to serve affluent and high net worth Indian clients. These customers will now be treated as global clients – gaining access to services across the UK, UAE, Singapore, and Hong Kong – rather than being classified solely as non-resident or resident Indians.
As part of this shift, the bank has raised the priority banking threshold to Rs 50 lakh from Rs 30 lakh earlier and increased the private banking threshold to $2 million from $1 million. The move comes as the bank exits its unsecured personal loan segment, which it recently sold to Kotak Bank.
Housed in its 1902 heritage building at MG Road, Fort, the new centre focuses on providing comprehensive wealth and banking solutions to global Indians.
