Suneel Darshan claims Twinkle Khanna left Akshay Kumar’s home over rumours with Priyanka Chopra | Hindi Movie News

Director Suneel Darshan made a surprising revelation about the marriage between Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar. He disclosed that Twinkle, who married Akshay in 2001, left their home due to rumors regarding his relationship with Priyanka Chopra.
Speaking with YouTube channel Friday Talkies, Suneel recalled that Akshay Kumar was the hero of ‘Barsaat’, and faced a peculiar problem with his wife as the film began.He mentioned that the shooting for Barsaat had already started with Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra. Just five days before the filming was scheduled to continue, Akshay called him and requested a meeting.
When they met, Akshay informed the director about a significant ‘blunder’ that had occurred, leading to his decision to withdraw from the film. The director revealed that there were rumours circulating about Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar, which resulted in Twinkle leaving their home.
The filmmaker emphasized that as an actor, one must be responsible, noting that Twinkle, being an actress herself, was well aware of the industry’s dynamics and had worked with many prominent stars.
Suneel clarified that he does not hold Priyanka Chopra responsible for the situation, stating that she was acting in her own interest. Following Akshay’s departure from the film, Bobby Deol expressed interest in working with the filmmaker. The director mentioned that Bobby reached out to him, and as a result, he was brought on board for ‘Barsaat’.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar recently filmed on a cruise for Housefull 5. The actor will be sharing the screen with an ensemble cast, including Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Dino Morea, Shreyas Talpade, Nikitin Dheer, Johny Lever, Chunky Panday and Akashdeep Sabir. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the movie is set to hit theatres on June 6, 2025.
