Tragic Fall: Commuter Injured After Falling Off Packed Thane Train |

Thane: A 28-year-old man suffered serious injuries after falling off a packed peak hour local train between Diva and Mumbra on Wednesday morning, officials said.
The Thane railway police reported the incident around 9 am after the victim, identified as Sanjay Yadav, a resident of Diva, boarded a slow local train for Thane. From there, he used to change services to reach his workplace at Turbhe.”The train was nearing Mumbra creek when Yadav apparently lost control of his foothold and fell off the train,” said the police.
Yadav’s brother, Rajkumar, who was alerted by the police, said his brother was running late for work and may have boarded the crowded train instead of waiting for the next one. “He told us he was unable to hold on to his grip and fell off, suffering injuries to his head and limbs before he lost consciousness. A few gangmen working in the vicinity spotted him blood-soaked and lying on the section. They halted a passing train and transported him to the nearest station, from where he was shifted to a local hospital. He received 20 stitches in total,” he said.
Activists claimed the introduction of a few new services has apparently failed to bring relief to commuters on the Thane-Kalyan stretch, which continues to witness incidents of commuters falling off trains. Meanwhile, railway records show that around 42 people lost their lives after falling off trains on the Thane section until Oct 16 this year.
