Vicky Kaushal opens up about dealing with his anxiety: 'A senior actor once told me to...' | Hindi Movie News

Vicky Kaushal has often talked candidly about his battles with anxiety and his coping mechanisms. He recently shared details about his own methodology.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Vicky shared, “The best thing to do for anxiety is to acknowledge it.” He shared some helpful advice he had received from a veteran actor, adding, “A senior actor once told me to make anxiety your friend. It’s always going to be there; you just need to master it. Acknowledging it is a great first step.”
Vicky talked about the importance of remaining creatively engaged. The actor mentioned that he flourishes by concentrating on creative activities instead of letting anxiety overwhelm him during tough times. At the moment, he feels attracted to the world of direction. “I’m fascinated by the different approaches in filmmaking. I’m not sure if I’d step into directing yet, but I’m definitely intrigued,” he remarked.
Kaushal reflected on Bollywood’s evolution and also expressed his excitement about the film industry’s recent shift. “We’re in an exciting phase. New voices are gaining power, and authenticity resonates with audiences. People are becoming more open to diverse narratives,” he stated.
From Masaan (2015) to Sam Bahadur (2023) and Sardar Udham (2021), Vicky Kaushal has done some versatile and unique roles. He continued by saying that circumstances frequently influence his decisions.
“When I started, I didn’t have the luxury of choice. I auditioned for roles, and the films chose me rather than the other way around,” he said. He often took advantage of opportunities that came his way early in his career, using each one as a stepping stone to get to where he is now.
He was greatly impacted by his work as an assistant director on ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ (2012), particularly by seeing how actors Pankaj Tripathi and Manoj Bajpayee developed into complex characters. He said, “I have always wanted to challenge myself to do the same, to be someone different with each role.”
On the work front, Vicky Kaushal will be next seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Love and War’. It also stars Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in lead roles.
