He vividly recalled spending nights on the benches of Marine Drive, sharing space with some of the largest rats he had ever seen. “I didn’t have a place to stay… So I spent a couple of days on Marine Drive benches with some of the largest rats I have seen in my life,” he shared. This experience highlights his dedication towards his passion.
Despite these hardships, he remained focused on his goal. He even contemplated driving a cab if acting did not pan out. “I came to Bombay with a driving license… If I don’t become an actor, I will drive a cab,” he recalled. This unwavering resolve eventually paid off when he landed his first significant role in the film ‘Saat Hindustani‘ in 1969.
