Wipro expands hybrid work culture; allows extra 30 days remote work in a year
Wipro, India’s leading IT services company, has recently expanded its hybrid work policy, effective from October 1. Under the new guidelines, employees are now allowed to work remotely for an additional 30 days per year, subject to the approval of their superiors.
This extension of remote working privileges aims to support employees during times of illness or when they need to provide care for their loved ones.
The expanded remote working policy is divided into two categories. Employees who are unwell can avail themselves of 15 days of remote work, while those who are caring for family members can take an additional 15 days, according to an ET report.

Saurabh Govil, Wipro’s Chief Human Resources Officer, shared his thoughts on the new policy via LinkedIn, saying, “I am proud to share with you the new hybrid work policy we have recently introduced. At Wipro, we have taken a modern approach to the future of work – one that focuses equally on well-being of our associates while being a high performing culture, driven by collaboration”.
Govil further emphasized the company’s dedication to accommodating the special needs of its employees during challenging times, without explicitly mentioning the details of the policy.
Despite the challenges faced by the technology industry, Wipro managed to buck the trend of headcount reduction during the first quarter of the year.
The company reported a marginal increase in its employee count, with a total of 234,391 employees at the end of June, compared to 234,054 at the end of March.
