Zarina Wahab claims Jiah Khan attempted suicide 4-5 times before her tragic death: ‘It was destiny that when my son’s turn came, it happened’ | Hindi Movie News
Actress Jiah Khan passed away on June 3, 2013, at her Juhu, Mumbai apartment, leaving the film industry and her fans in shock. Following her death, her then-boyfriend, actor Sooraj Pancholi, was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide, based on a six-page note detailing their troubled relationship.
In a recent interview with Lehren, Sooraj’s mother, actress Zarina Wahab, shared her perspective on Jiah’s tragic death, revealing, “Before that, she had tried [suicide] 4-5 times, but it was destiny that when my son’s turn came, it happened.”
Wahab reflected on the immense toll the incident took on her son’s career and their family, stating, “If you spoil someone’s life with lies, it’s like a loan that will come back with interest.” She expressed relief that Sooraj was acquitted after 10 long years but lamented the damage done to his career in the interim.
Jiah Khan’s death to be made into a documentary by British filmmaker?
The actress highlighted that they patiently waited for the truth to emerge, maintaining Sooraj’s innocence. While Wahab acknowledged Jiah’s prior struggles, she refrained from delving further into the matter, adding that she preferred to maintain her dignity.
Sooraj Pancholi, who spent 22 days in jail after his arrest, was granted bail shortly after. In 2023, a special CBI court acquitted Pancholi in the case, citing a lack of evidence to prove the charges against him.
Jiah Khan debuted in Bollywood with Nishabd (2007), starring opposite Amitabh Bachchan in a film exploring an unconventional relationship. She later rose to fame with her role in the blockbuster Ghajini (2008) alongside Aamir Khan.
