Zarina Wahab talks about her interfaith marriage with Aditya Pancholi: ‘He didn’t convert to Islam, but changed his name for nikaah ceremony’ |
Zarina Wahab recently talked about her marriage to Aditya Pancholi and shared whether their different religions ever caused any challenges in their relationship.
In an interview with Lehren Retro, Zarina shared how she met Aditya while working on a VHS video film she initially hesitated to take up. Despite her reservations, she agreed and met Aditya, who was younger and good-looking. Within 15-20 days, the two were married, something she believes was destined.
When asked if their different religious backgrounds affected their marriage, Zarina shared that many doubted their relationship would last, but they have been together for 36 years. She emphasized that their home embraces both traditions, with temples and namaaz coexisting, and praised her supportive in-laws for ensuring no challenges arose.
The veteran actress revealed that their marriage included a nikaah ceremony, and while Aditya Pancholi did not convert to Islam, he adopted a different name as part of the tradition.
Wahab shared the story behind her children’s names, revealing they chose Sana after a character from a Pakistani show and Sooraj after a role Aditya Pancholi played in a film. She emphasised that religion was never an issue in their family, allowing her children to find their own paths.
