Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal Trolled For Job offer; ‘Difference between Indian founders and Elon Musk’:
Goyal shared the job posting on X and LinkedIn and wrote, “Update: I am looking for a chief of staff for myself.”
The role, based at Zomato’s headquarters in Gurugram, is ideal for somebody with “a lot of common sense, empathy, Grade A communication skills, zero entitlement” but no substantial prior experience.
While serving in this role, the person will get “10x more learning than a 2-year degree from a top management school,” along with the privilege of working with Goyal.
However, the job description details that there will be no salary for this role for the first year; rather, the candidate will have to pay ₹20 lakh for this opportunity.
“100% of this ‘fee’ will be paid in the form of a donation directly to Feeding India,” it stated.
On its behalf, Zomato has also promised to donate ₹50 lakh to a charity of the candidate’s choice.
“Second year onwards, we will start paying you the usual salary (definitely more than ₹50 lakh, but something we will only talk about at the start of Year 2),” it states.
How to apply? Those interested can directly send an e-mail to Goyal at d@zomato.com, with a cover letter of up to 200 words, while there is no requirement to attach your resume.

Another added, “It means – ‘Pay me or I will put an employee salary surcharge on your food bill’.”
On X also many took a jibe at the offer.
“They will surely go hungry after the loan for 20L,” one user said.
In reply, Goyal replied, “Will let you know how this goes :)”

Another person wrote, “Dippy bhai hire me as your PR manager and I’ll save you from making such tweets in the future.”
A third person added, “Had to check for a moment to see if it’s April 1. I’m OK with this being an unpaid 1-year internship if you honestly call it that.”
Another user questions whether banks will give a “20 lakh education loan for a Zomato offer letter?”
One X user commented, “This is the difference between Indian founders and someone like Elon Musk”.
